At 7am the race begins and the crowd cheers.
The race may start at 7am, but everyone's day started hours before that. All the participants had to make their final preparations for the long day ahead. But, it wasn't just them. Their family and friends were there to watch and cheer them on, along with all the staff and volunteers that make sure that these races are safe and very well supported.
Once the 2.4 mile swim is done, then it's onto the waiting bikes
and out for a scenic 112 mile ride.
Since it takes several hours for even the pros to finish the bike portion, the spectators get a chance to relax a little.
Of course, Spring Valley Spine and Sportscare was on hand to cheer on their pro and elite athletes and made
sure that everyone knew their faces.
Of course, we all know what happens after you get off the bike. You run a marathon.
It's great seeing these athletes succeed in completing the 140.6 mile course, but amazingly the most exciting part of the day is just minutes before midnight. This is when the crowd really goes nuts, cheering the last of these athletes across the finish line.
Just a few moments ago, you couldn't hear yourself think. Now the streets are quiet
The crowd has gone home, the athletes, and the spectators, try to recuperate from this very long day.
Congratulations to everyone that crossed that finish line.
You are an Ironman.
On Saturday January 19th, this group of gorillas from Dallas joined thousands of our fellow gorillas running through the streets of Austin. We had to stop in a running store before we started our "race".
Sure hope these gorillas don't get hungry.
Some of these gorillas decided to use other modes of transportation.
These are just a few of the photos that I managed to capture during our little adventure. You can see a few more at http://www.photographybyclean.com/gorilla_run

You'll be able to step up, have your photo taken, and receive your Facebook photo in minutes.
